What is the largest pad that will fit in your hammocks?
Generally any standard-sized backpacking pad (20″ or 25″ width) will work for an ultralight bridge hammock, regardless of thickness and length, but in general the largest commercial camping pad that will be appropriate will be the size of the Exped downmat 9 LW, which is aprox. 77″x25″x3.5″; Also keep in mind that in a flat hammock like the Ridgerunner, you need insulation only, no padding is needed so extra thick air mattresses are not necessary; R-value and warmth are what are really important. Also keep in mind that if you are considering buying a new pad to use with one of our end-gathered hammocks (like the Blackbird or XLC), that an underquilt will be much more comfortable and a lot less hassle so you should seriously consider putting that money towards an underquilt instead.

So, I have hiked and camped most of my life. Back in 2019, I was getting ready to retire and was planning a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. I had camped entirely using a tent and ground pad up to that point. While trying out different equipment, I considered a hammock, but always shied away because I disliked the “pinching” effect of traditional hammocks. After doing a bunch of searching and research, I finally purchased the Ridgerunner to try, since it had the spreader bars and seemed to hang fairly flat. I began using it on shakedown hikes to test the comfort. I purchased it with ultra light considerations and got the plain strapping with the single hook. I did get the double bottom which works fantastic with a mattress or pad which can be easily slid in from either end. After several shakedown hikes, this became my “new” best camp/sleep system. It is, by far, the most comfortable sleep setup I have ever used in the outdoors.
I used the hammock for my thru hike and have continued using it to this day with no major issues. Many rainy nights along the trail, it was awesome to be above the wet uneven ground staying dry. Biggest concern once I reached the whites and other areas above the tree line, was careful planning to end up below tree line in the evenings. Highly recommend to those who dislike the pinching of traditional hammocks and want the flat bed feel!

After 30 months of use my double layer ridge runner shows no signs of durability issues. On cold nights, inserting a sleeping pad inside the bottom layer performs the same function as an underquilt, except the pad weighs a great deal less than an underquilt. Never mind the sticker shock, it will recede into the distance after your first morning waking up in one.
I’ve spent the last 4 months camped out in a RR on a fruit farm. No bull.
It’s comfortability will be why you sleep so well. The spreader bars?. Genius.
Simple and effective. It’s still in as good shape as the day l received it.
I ordered the bug net and rain tarp too. No problem with coverage, even in central Florida storms.
I strongly suggest an air mattress or the under quilt to ward off bug bites from underneath.
It’s a hammock, yes, but should be renamed a floating platform, because thats what you feel like you’re sleeping on. Blissful on a starry night.

I spent one night in my Ridgerunner as soon as I got it and have just gotten back from a week long camp trip where I spent 5 nights in it. I’ve been using gathered end hammocks for about 6-7 years and have always been more into DIY and, while I’ve always slept better in them than on the ground, I’ve never slept really well. Always tossing and turning thru the night. The biggest benefit was that although I tossed and turned, I didn’t hurt when I woke up. Now after having the Ridgerunner, the DIY way was not the right way for me. It is amazing. I slept 7 hours straight each night and each morning, woke up in the same position as I went to sleep.I did turn to my side in the mornings and tried to go back to sleep and found that side sleeping is very possible as well. And for reference, I’m 6’ tall and 200lbs. DIY is great for gathered end hammocks but a bridge style is way above my capability and am super happy that I dove in and bought it.
I had heard that the spreader bars could potentially poke holes in my tarp but the poles I received have blunted points on them and seem to glide on the tarp rather than poking at it.
The saddle bags are very handy. I used them to store my flashlight, phone, battery charger and odds and ends otherwise. Plenty of storage for my needs.
One thing I’d like to see is some sort of ridgeline incorporated or some tie out ribbons along the crest of the bugnet so it can be partially unzipped and stowed away when you just want to have it half unzipped.
Oh, I also got the Lynx underquilt as well and am extremely happy with it too.
The quality is first rate on both items. No frayed seems, no loose stitching…..just perfect.
If you’re debating buying it or not, stop and just do it. You won’t be sorry.

The workmanship on this hammock is superb. Everything I have purchased from Warbonnet has been top-notch quality.
I have both the old version with the metal spreader bar connections and the new one version with the fabric spreader bar connection. I was a little skeptical of the latter, but once I set it up and broke it down, I was convinced it’s better and definitely lighter. Also, with the new version, the foot spreader bars nest inside the head spreader bars so it packs up nicer.
I’ve been using my old Ridgerunner for over 3 years now and I’ve never been more comfortable camping. Unfortunately, I damaged it and decided to buy a new one. No regrets there. I got plenty of use out of the old one and the new one is even lighter.

I think I have owned my Ridgerunner for 6 or 7 years. Over 2 years ago I decided to hang a hammock in my bedroom and hang full-time. I have been sleeping in the ridgerunner for 70-80% of the nights ever since. It is simply the best sleep I have found. I can’t say enough about the service from Warbonnet. I received my Ridgerunner as a Christmas gift from my wife. After I opened it, she told me that she thought that she wouldn’t get it in time. She had ordered with what she thought was plenty of lead time, accounting for pandemic-related delays. Then it was lost in transit. When she called Warbonnet and explained it was supposed to be a gift, they asked if she minded a different shade of green. She said no, and they shipped another the next day. It wasn’t their mistake, but they went out of their way to take care of the problem.

Looking for a hammock that would be comfortable for a side sleeper I almost pulled the trigger on another brand. So happy that one was sold out at the time and I finally found out about the ridgerunner. After reading some of the fantastic reviews I ordered the ridgerunner, the spindrift sock and the lynx 3 season underquilt (and a packsack for the spreader bars after I found out it wouldn’t be included). The comfort in the ridgerunner is incredible. I tried sleeping in it during a 15 degree night using the lynx uq, the spindrift sock, an inflatable mat, a 3 season down bag and a dd ultralight 9×9 tarp . Until morning I was cozily warm and was surprised when I finally got out of the hammock that the sock and the tarp were covered in ice. Except for the condensation that is of course still happening within the spindrift and make things a little wet, I had a perfectly warm microclimate inside. Considering that I also only used a 3 season uq with an added airmat I was happily surprised that I still had a lot of buffer even in 15 degrees weather. Probably won’t ever be camping in much colder temperatures anyways.

This past spring I slowly put together the entire system – Ridgerunner, Super Fly, Under-quilt, Top-quilt – everything is topnotch. Quality and design are outstanding. Ran some tests in the backyard to become familiar with everything (new to hammock camping).
I bought the Ridgerunner because I’m a dedicated side sleeper, but with this hammock it makes no difference. I don’t even remember falling asleep. I sleep like a baby and wake up with no lower back ache (you old dudes will know what I’m talking about)
Just got back from the season’s first trip to the Adirondacks. I set up the four person tent for my wife and daughter – gave them the best spot in the campsite.
I picked the most unloved, lumpy, uneven spot for myself. Makes no difference! I’ll never sleep on the ground again.

It took me a dozen times (I’m new to the hammock scene) to get the setup right, and now I’ve got it just about perfect. The key for me was to find trees 18 to 22 feet apart; the straps will handle that length. And finding for me the absolute perfect strap height and tension where the foot end needs to be above the head end was critical (for me, about five inches): no more waking up to slide myself back or forward in the hammock. The storage pockets are huge on each side of the hammock. My Mt. Washington 4 under quilt from Jacks.R Better fits the Ridge Runner like a glove and hooks on in seconds. I wish there was some kind of closure system to secure the ends of the double layer so that my Neoair X-therm max doesn’t slide out the end of the hammock at night. The X-therm Max is also a perfect size to fit inside the double layer of the Ridge Runner. One item for me made a great difference in comfort, which was that my 2017 model shipped with three head end poles of equal length, as opposed to prior years where the head end poles where two longer pieces and then a five inch center, connecting section. That short piece can be easily misplaced, no doubt. so the the three pole setup is mostly an improvement. However for me, I purchase the older model head poles, and by removing the center section, that made the fabric at the head end more concave and less taunt, so that for semi-side sleeping the hammock was perfect. For back sleepers, the full poles system will give a better flat sleep, but for side sleepers the fabric is stretched a bit too tight. By removing the short center section, the deeper, now more concave fabric, allowed me a significantly more comfortable side and semi-side sleep. On my back, very slight shoulder squeeze ( I wear a 43R jacket), but not terrible. All in all I’m very, very happy with my purchase. The only grip I have was there was no sleeve included for the poles, which is aggravating.

I recently purchased a wbrr, full winter underquilt, and a cloud burst tarp (as well as a new pack that I wont name).
My maiden trip was to the Adirondacks over labor day for a two nights, two days Trip (I drove up after work arriving at about 11pm), the first thing I can say is setup was a breeze even by headlamp (I had only “set it up” once before in my hotel room, and that was tied to the curtain rod so I had never laid in it), I love the way the underquilt fits, and the saddle bags and head end storage is awesome, I easily fit all my stuff from my pockets and more in there.
Sleep was short but very sweet and restful (I wanted to hit the trail early).
The next day was a hard hike, my pack which was also new, was poorly adjusted (I had only tried it on at the hotel also, with about 1/3 the weight I was carrying), and if I’m being honest very overweight/ packed. It also rained on and off all day
So of course I decided bushwack .5 miles up a untrailed mountain to camp on what looked to be a false summit on my gps. by time I got there I’m sure I had traveled well over a mile, going around blowdowns and trying to follow natural ”trails”, and oh yeah my false “summit” ended up being just a far more gradual slope ( it would have been way to steep for a tent, but was doable with a hammock, even if not ideal). But I was soaked, and it about to get dark, and starting to drop temps.
The night was windy, rainy and not cold but chilly (lows in the 50s). and I think I had some wildlife drop in to see what I was doing there (possibly a bear as they say they are pretty common in that area).
I won’t say I had a great night’s sleep, but that was mainly do to the wind and hearing something wondering around “camp”, what I can say is this combo kept me dry, warm, and very comfortable, and the sleep I did get was restorative, and restful.
Over all the products from warbonnet (tarp, UQ and of course the ridgerunner) helped to turn a rough hike into a great trip!

I bought the Ridgerunner hammock earlier this year. I’ve used it several times on trips and it has performed very well. I really like the flatter sleeping position versus standard non-bridged hammocks. The craftsmanship Warbonnet provides is second to none. I’m 6’2″, 195lbs. Fits me perfect with good head and foot room to spare. If I had one con of this hammock it would be I wish it was a little bit wider. When I sleep on my side I find my legs end up on the sides of the hammock which is of course pulled tight and ridged with one’s body weight. A little wider might be nice. But other than that one personal preference the Ridgerunner is my go-to hammock for camping.

Just got my ridge runner in today and had an abnormally warm day for January here in wild and wonderful West Virginia so i took it out and set it up.
Had some issues when i ordered and the staff at warbonnet were very helpful and took care of the problem immediately.

If your a side sleeper like myself this is the only hammock for you. I slept like a rock all afternoon. If your thinking about a new hammock dont think twice go out and get yourself a ridge runner you wont regret it.

I’m a beginning hammock user. The Ridgeline in the only one I have used. I am 66 years old, and so far have found it even more comfortable than my bed, which at my age I have some trouble sleeping in. I’ve even been thinking of setting the hammock up in my bedroom, heh.
I had less success with the Superfly tarp, probably still in the learning curve on that. I found that it really needs to be tied down well otherwise the wind will lift it and it will be flapping at night. The problem is finding good spots for all the stakes; hard to do with rocky soil.
One thing that surprised me; despite living in Western Oregon, it can be difficult finding a pair of trees the right distance from each other. I do have the longer straps, but still it is an annoyance.

The ridge runner shipped to me had numerous quality control issues including an uneven triangle.
The workmanship of my 50 dollar moskito kakoon is superior to the warbonnet ridge runner I received.
The people i dealt with during the return process seemed offended at criticism of their work.
I feel their reputation for quality is unjustified.
I also feel that using re purposed mitten clips is really hokey . Clipped up plastic is just jerry rigging. Spinning this as a plus is pure denial.

I ordered a ridge runner and a cloudburst tarp.
The tarp that came was excellent and stitched well I followed the instructions for pitching on the website and had a tight pitch very quickly.
The hammock that came had a small smudge of something on the webbing , Perhaps glue. Not a big deal but then I found frayed material sticking through a seem and then puckered fabric where the stitching came too close to the edge. The spreader bars were all scuffed up and they appear very cheap.
None of this effects the function so if that were all , I would have just kept the hammock and been quietly dissappointed with fit and finish but thrilled with it’s comfy flat lay.
Unfortunately the triangle legs on at least one end weren’t the same length making the hammock hang at an angle. That nixed the option of comfy dissatisfaction and after seeing it wasn’t anything I could repair, I contacted warbonnet. I was fairly angry at this point and felt like all the hooplah about warbonnet quality was just forum created hokem. I was disgusted all these errors got through.
They were good about responding to the email but acknowledged no departure from quality standards and offered no apology. I figured it’s premature but still felt irritated that they wished to vet my claim prior to offering an apology . I could understand it though.
When I contacted them after hearing nothing I got no response till monday afternoon that said the hammock had been fixed and returned. I have another shipping address so I had no idea it had been examined or delivered. There was no apology in this communication either or acceptance that a mistake had been made.
When I inquired about the stitching it was defended as adequate. Even so….if they cared about service and really felt it was adequate they would have sent it to another customer but they sent it back to me. It’s sitting in my box as I write this (unless it’s been misdelivered-they never sent a tracking number or told me they shipped it).
The only time I got an apology was when I told them I wanted a refund and cancelled an underquilt order

I just received this hammock the other day! I decided to purchase after trying my friends Blackbird Hammock from Warbonnet and loving it. I decided to splurge and spend the extra cash for the ridge runner and it was worth every hour of waiting and every penny I spent! This hammock is extremely comfortable and the spreader bars keeping it open is a game changer. This hammock lays so flat I can even comfortably lay on my side and sleep. Setup takes about 60 seconds even with the netting and tear down is just as effortless. It seems a little inconvenient that it does not come with a bag to hold the spreader bars, the rain tarp has no stakes, carribeaners are sold seperately. For how expensive everything is it is hard to believe that these simple items would not come complimentary. All in all though, I am extremely satisfed with my order and I can’t wait to take a trip and try this puppy out!

I was very impressed with how easy it set up and how well made it is and the amount detailed workmanship it contains. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a bridge hammock. Some Important Follow-up Points Regarding my RidgeRunner (RR) Experiences:
1. DIY Spreader Bar Disaster. I tried to rig up in the field on top of Grandfather Mountain a substitute spreader bar system for the RR using my lightweight trekking poles. BIG MISTAKE!! After getting in the hammock and laying for roughly 60 seconds, there was a tremendous pop as the trekking pole at the head-end snapped in half like a twig. I learned quickly that there are tremendous forces on those bars both pushing inwardly as well as bending pressures opposite direction of the tree anchor points. Warbonnet I am sure engineered their spreader bars to be the lightest poles you can realistically get away with while enduring the tremendous forces. I have seen some stuff about rigging up trekking poles as substitutes in various places on the Internet for the RR, but I will never go there again. My DIY system was a quick thought-up “one end poke the carbon tip through the metal bracket” other end “tie the pole to the bracket” setup. I am sure it was not ideal nor thought out in a wise manner. It might be possible using specific poles and specific setup tips on the ends. But for me, my Warbonnet spreader poles will always be along for the ride going forward.
2. Mid-Night Air Mattress Slip & Slide. I tried to use my Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite Sleeping Pad in the lower sleeve underside of the RR in about 45-50 degree nightly temps. I ended up spending the night with the mattress being too high left, too high right, and sliding down towards the feet and all over the place with every slight move I made. Also, the mattress is impossible to adjust once your inside the hammock. It drove me crazy all night long as I had to get up and try to re-center it several times, to just have it slip to one side once again once I got back in the hammock. Perhaps (as I have read) something like Velcro dots or silicone dots might help with this problem, but don’t know if that will work once the body weight bares down. I am now seriously looking at the Lynx underquilt despite the crunch on the wallet. This will allow me to skip the air mattress altogether. Note: the air mattress will keep you warm enough underneath (if you can keep it centered) down to about 45 degrees from my experience. Anything below that I am pretty sure you would want a underquilt and the Lynx apparently fits the RR perfectly based on my research while others might just be semi-adequate fit.
3. Cloud Burst Heaven. I bought the huge WarBonnet Cloud Burst tarp to use over my RR. ITS HANDS-DOWN OUTSTANDING!!! It withstood some crazy 50mph wind bursts on my second night on Grandfather Mtn., NC recently and was not phased a bit. It also kept out both down flowing rain as well as side blowing rain very well (no leaks or drips or me getting wet in the hammock other than a light mist in the air). The Cloud Burst covers a very large square area footprint so a “minimalist” would not be happy and would regard it as a big circus tent in the woods. Ultra-light folks would probably want maybe something just barely covering the RR’s overall footprint and nothing more. But if you are like me and enjoy the rain free freedom of a large cover that extends your site’s overall rain protection several feet to either side of the hammock, and you aren’t set on being a “minimalist”, then the Cloud Burst tarp, with additional 6ea. by 6ft 1/8” guy lines and S-type quick slide/connect line tensioners is the perfect RR companion.
I still think the RR system is top notch and high quality as stated in my last review!!

Wowwwwww…. Just received (July 17th, 2016) my RidgeRunner wt. “straps and buckles” (double layer bottom in camouflage color) and my Cloudburst tarp. I also got 8 lightweight Y-shape aluminum stakes from WarBonnet and about 40 meters of lightweight yellow guy-line off of Amazon. This system is definitely now the BEST camping/hiking gear I own. Been laying my 6’1″ 230lbs 51 year old frame in the RidgeRunner hammock setup in the backyard thus far, and laughing at the bugs trying to bite me, but they cant as they are unable to get through the well made nice hanging zip-up bug net (bug net comes with the system as standard). After over 2 hours of casual hanging on Sunday afternoon my wife came looking for me. She couldn’t believe I had been in the hammock for over 2 hours just enjoying our shaded tree backyard and light breeze. I have a history of lower back problems and the way the RidgeRunner lays I may go to it if I have future sciatic nerve pain and leave my $4K fancy bed to my wife.
One thing I may thank about now that I have the RidgeRunner and Cloudburst system, is the possibility of eventually abandoning a standard sleeping bag and go with just a top quilt. I would also check into the under-quilt specifically made for the RidgeRunner on nights where temps fall below 50 degrees (often the case in the NC mountains even in the summer). I also plan to use my NeoAir Therm-a-Rest mattress in the double-layer pocket but haven’t put it in there yet in order to try it out.
Prior to receiving the RidgeRunner, I was a ground fly-weight 2-person tent camper, but it looks like I will never go there again unless I know I will be in an area completely void of trees where I am unable to string-up my RidgeRunner.
I would like to give the WarBonnet Team some “opportunities for improvement” pointers on this system, but I find myself dumbfounded as I cant come up with anything that needs alteration or improvement. To the Warbonnet Team, my hat is off to you for making such an excellent product…. great job!!!!!!

I recently received my Ridgerunner and I am blown away. Absolutely love it.
I own 8 hammocks thus far, some economy brands and some more expensive, such as a Hennessey Asym Safari. This will be my hammock for all occasions, and I will keep the others to loan or give away to friends. it is quite stable…one of my fears due to the way it is suspended, but the fears were not founded. As a physically challenge, arthritic senior, gathered end hammocks are sometimes a challenge when crawling in and out of the hammock.
This one is a breeze. Be certain to buy the double layer model. A thin
closed foam pad inserted in the pocket is all you need for comfort at least
down to the fifties. Also, buy the version with mosquito net that can be completely removed and stored in the pocket at the foot.

This hammock is more comfortable to sleep in then my Tempurpedic bed at home. The quality of the hammock and the quilts are the best. Definitely buy the underquilt from Warbonnet. It fits like a glove and is made better than any underquilt out there. I love my overquilt too, so you should just go for it all. Definitely worth the investment. I also bought the sock for winter camping and stay nice and warm all winter in GA, NC, TN, KY and VA. I bought a cuben fiber tarp with doors to offset the weight of the bars. Be sure to let the company know you have a bridge hammock. To have a tarp with doors with this bridge hammock is ultra long. Hammock Gear did mine in the Camo print. As an avid backpacker, I highly recommend the Warbonnet Bridge Hammock full setup.

This is the best Hammock I have ever slept on. I just spent 6 nights in the hammock on a Boy Scout camp out with my son. I slept great on it. I am 6′ and weigh 225. The hammock sleeps very flat and I did not wake up with sore a sore hip like I have with other hammocks. You can even sleep on your side. I bought a Ridgerunner not too long ago and finally used it last weekend. I love it. Comfort and quality are top notch across the board. No more crippling and cold sleeps on the ground with roots, rocks and rain to worry about.
I bought the hammock with the Cloudburst tarp which is again top quality, but I’ll likely get a spindrift before too long to make up for the lack of tarp doors. If I was doing it all over, I’d probably opt for the Superfly with a side pullout modification to accommodate the hammock’s spreader bars.
The real review-worthy story though is Warbonnet’s customer service. I had a small issue with the netting and returned it for a repair job. Ryan and the rest of the team are the standard all other customer service should be held to. Attentive and quick responses which made international shipping (Canada) a breeze. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from this company again or recommend it to anyone else.

About 15 months ago I was waking up every morning with lower back and neck pain. Like the vast majority of people, I was sleeping in a bed and I was open to whatever would make me feel better. Since beds are so expensive, I looked for other options and somewhere I stumbled across a blog or article where the author wrote of sleeping in a hammock nightly and how much better he slept and felt when he awoke, so I decided to give it a try. I started by trying a couple parachute hammocks and found that my neck and back felt better but that I didn’t stay asleep or sleep as deeply because of the dreaded calf ridge that’s common to parachutes.
I came across the Ridgerunner and I was impressed, but I was sold (and highly entertained!) by watching shugemery’s Youtube review (not sure if the link will stay but here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3VZ8KtsYs8). It was love at first night and I’ve now slept in the hammock for about 12 of the last 13 months and I’ve only slept in a bed when traveling for the other month during that time. I still wake up sore when I sleep in a bed but feel pretty great after a night in this hammock. I used to sleep with the bottom of one foot against the inside of the other leg’s knee, which is not very comfortable in the RR but not being able to do it hasn’t bothered me. I sleep on my back and occasionally my side, both of which are quite comfortable.
I’ve been asked how I mounted it, so I’ll describe that here too. I used 4 d-rings, 1 into the corner stud of each wall (2 at each end of the hammock), so the hammock runs between opposite corners of my BR and is tied off to ENO Atlas straps (which I like a lot too!) I wove the Atlas straps back and forth through the rings to make sure both rings at each end were bearing weight. I weigh about 180 so each ring and stud is carrying about 45 lbs. My BR is pretty big but I wish it was big enough to fit a stand that could run along a wall instead of running smack through the middle of the room. But it’s not the biggest deal as I just unclip one side and hang it all in the opposite corner when I need to break it down (which is infrequent.)

This is a very well made hammock. It is a little tippy when I sit up, which I understand is typical of bridge style hammocks. The built in bug next works flawlessly. I bought this hammock at the beginning of July 2015 and have been out with it all but one weekend since.
I bought the double layer version and use a wool blanket inside in warmer weather. I have been using an under quilt now that it is getting colder. I think the double layer is a must have.
I bought the whoopie suspension version.
My only gripe is, they took the mitten hooks for the bug net and cut the loops off. They used the loops on the whoopie suspension to keep it from accidentally pulling through. Now I always have to flip the mitten hook around to orient it properly, to hook it on the ridge line. For a $200.00 dollar hammock, they could spend the extra 50 cents and give me 2 full mitten hooks. They could go to Joann Fabrics and buy 100 beads for $3.00 dollars for the whoopie slings.
I would definitely buy this hammock again and would recommend it to others.

Taking a trip in the woods where I wanted to camp out- for a couple of days next month- I came to the conclusion that I needed a hammock because of the terrain and the fact that this area is noted for its above average rainfall. I love my spacious tent except for its weight and space it takes up in my backpack.
I studied the reviews for hammocks and curiously found not one bad review for Warbonnet hammocks. Ordered the ridge runner and spindrift and received them around when I expected. When the postal guy handed it to me I thought to myself: wow this is light. Eager to try it out I set it up in the house. At first guilty about the money I spent on the hammock, after laying in it I changed my mind: it is worth every dollar I spent.
For me, used to sleeping on the ground in a tent, or sometimes on an air mattress, this is luxury. A bridge hammock compared to a non bridge hammock is even more luxury; I kinda feel I am in my tent except this is so much more comfortable. I put the spindrift on it and decided I will probably leave it on since I got the one with the two doors and can still use the bug netting when needed . Ordered a Hennessy snake skin and found the hammock and spindrift go in it without too much trouble. Packs in my backpack well- quite pleased with that.
I ordered the multicam and glad I spent the extra money- it looks cool. It will also blend in with the environment well.
It is worth the two weeks wait because I feel this is carefully made- I mean every stitch.
My next purchase will probably be the super fly tarp and after that an under quilt. At present since this is double layer I put in a therm-a-rest z-lite sol for insulation. I can take more cold than most people so that will do until I get an under quilt.
My only thing is my wife is upset. I used two closet doors to hang the webbing. The closet doors were a little over fifteen foot distance. The hammock is quality but not the closet doors. Hey it was raining and I couldn’t wait.

Comfortable hammock to lay pretty close to flat while sleeping (easy on the knees). I love the double layers to be able to slide a pad underneath. Great storage space in the sides to place important items that need quick reaching.

Purchased in Nov 2014. I have used this hammock in a variety of conditions and terrains on overnighters, multiday trips and many hangs on the back porch. I have the double layer and use a pad slipped inside on most occasions. It has even been used in a bivy application with a tarp and a couple hiking poles. This hammock is not only versatile but, durable as well. I have yet to see any fray in stitching. The quality of construction is outstanding. I’m 5′ 11″ at 185lbs. Plenty of room and quite comfortable. This is a well-made piece of gear that should last decades. If your on the fence about bridge style hammocks, don;t be. Side sleeping is quite comfortable, stability is a non issue and the view …. AWESOME!

I started with the Henessey hammock and I quickly decided that hammock camping was for me. However, there were things I thought should be improved. I have slept in my RR several nights now and it’s so much more comfortable/easier than any hammock i’ve been in. Everything is nice and tight as far as construction goes, I’ve only spotted one bury that has a few fibers sticking out of the AmSteel but it’s really just a few fibers. I have been following WB for at least a couple of years and reading about them and finally decided to pull the trigger. A WB tarp is in my future for sure.

Excellent. I live 15 minutes from the crest of the Blue Ridge (AT) but I gave up overnights because I hate sleeping on the ground. This hammock changes everything. Like most hammockers I have been through a few hammocks trying to find the right comfort and right mix of features. I feel like I finally have my kit dialed in thanks to Warbonnet. There are many great manufacturers out there but I have to put Warbonnet at the top.
For ultralight trips my go to has become a DL 1.1 Traveler hammock which I find as comfy as any gathered end hammock out there and I’m a big guy at 6’3 230. Pair that up with an edge tarp and you are good to go.
I am a side sleeper and also wanted something with bug protection so decided to try the RidgeRunner and it does not disappoint. Quality is excellent, super flat lay and I can switch sides during the night which I find difficult in a gathered end hammock. This hammock is a little heavier than traditional gathered end hammocks but the comfort and saddlebags are worth it to me. This is my go to backpacking and car camping hammock. Also when my wife and/or son go along I can let them use my underquilt and I use a pad in my RidgeRunner which works quite well. This keeps me from having to invest in an additional underquilt for the few times a year they tag along. FWIW I have looked at the JRB BM Bridge Hammock at Damascus Trail Days for 2 years in a row now. They are also of excellent quality but being a big guy, there is some shoulder squeeze. I personally find the RidgeRunner more comfy. The BMBH also seems maybe a tad heavier but their suspension looks bombproof.
You really can’t go wrong with WB products. The RidgeRunner is not the lightest hammock out there but I will look to save weight in other areas for the awesome sleep this thing provides. Try one out I do not think you will be disappointed!

I knew that when purchasing my next hammock I definitely wanted a flat-laying style hammock. I was concerned about a bridge hammock due to the balance or “tipiness” feeling that comes with spreader bar style hammocks. After hours of research, I decided I would give it a try despite not having actually laid in one. When I first received the Ridgerunner hammock I was pleasantly surprised at how light it was. After reading some reviews of others I expected this hammock to be much heavier. Setting it up for the first time was a breeze as well. Then, comes time to get in and WOW! this hammock is by far the most comfortable hammock I have ever been in. I have tried several other hammocks from competitors and it’s not even close. There are some things with a bridge style hammock you have to be aware of but it doesn’t take but a few minutes to settle in to realize how to move around. Getting in and out of the hammock requires some new techniques compared to a normal “banana style” hammock but it isn’t difficult, just different. This is my first hammock with a bug net and let me tell you… just knowing you don’t have to worry about creepy crawlies while sleeping in the woods is a very comforting feeling. The only issue I have had so far is that I only have one Ridgerunner and there are three of us in my family. I can’t get the other two out of it so I have made plans to order two more complete setups from Warbonnet for the other two campers in the family. It seems to be a recurring theme as I read site after site on hammocks, ” I don’t sleep as well on the ground as I did in my youth ” Here I was at the same point in my life, I was ready to give up sleeping on the ground but not backpacking and canoeing. I did my research– user reviews , youtube videos , hammock forums etc and they all brought me to Warbonnet Hammocks. I ordered my Ridgerunner Hammock and superfly tarp at the end of April with the hope of being able to dry-run them before my camping trip to the BWCA in early June. I had given up backpacking in my 30s because I began finding it almost impossible to get a good night’s sleep on the ground without hauling a lot of extra gear. I didn’t hear about backpacking hammocks until just a few years ago (in my 50s).
Very early in my research it became obvious that Warbonnet was producing, by far, the most popular and highly rated models in both the gathered-end and bridge styles of hammocks because of their creative/innovative designs and quality craftsmanship. The hardest part of my purchase decision was which model of Warbonnet hammock to buy – the Blackbird XLC or Ridgerunner. So I had Brandon send one of each! It didn’t take more than a couple hours trying each model for me to decide on the Ridgerunner because of the relative ease of setup, the versatility of easily using a pad or underquilt for bottom insulation, and the relative ease of using a sleeping bag for top insulation instead of a quilt (although I did eventually end up buying both a topquilt and underquilt when my budget could handle it).
For me, there was very little adjusting of the suspension required and I never doubted if I was lying in the correct/best position in order to achieve maximum comfort like I did in the gathered-end model. I found the whole experience with the Ridgerunner very straightforward. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the Warbonnet Ridgerunner has profoundly affected my ability to enjoy the outdoors again. Neither am I exaggerating when I say that I sleep just as well or better outside in the hammock (with a 23 pound dog!) than I do inside in a bed (without the dog).

As I have gotten older it has gotten harder and harder to sleep on the ground despite what sleeping pads I have tried. I had tried sleeping in regular hammocks but between the shoulder squeeze and curve of the hammock it was just as uncomfortable. I strung up my ridge runner in my unheated basement, the temp stays about 50 degrees all the time. It is extremely comfortable, I was able sleep all night without any discomfort. I used a 20″ wide Big Agnes 2.5″ insulated air pad between the double layers. It was a bit to narrow and my shoulders got cool, a few clothes rolled up and put on each side solved the issue. April 15 I slept out on pikes peak, approx 10,000 ft. temp dropped to 20 degrees and it started snowing about 3 am. I used an old tent fly for cover, a marmot 0 degree synthetic bag as a top quilt and my big agnes pad. I slept very well but did get a little cool towards morning. Using a sleeping bag as top quilt works ok but the hood and zippers get in the way. My tent fly didn’t offer as much coverage as I would have liked and ended up tearing from the snow (it was older than I thought). Over all I am extremely pleased with the ridge runner and look forward to more camping with it. I have however ordered a wider pad, the mamba top quilt and the super fly tarp.

Received my new RR this week and was able to do a couple of test hangs. I didn’t know it was possible for me to like any hammock more than my BB XLC, but it was like laying on a cloud. My wife and daughter also laid in it for a while and I was sure I would never get either of them out.
Quality craftsmanship, stitching was nice and clean. This is now my 5th hammock from Warbonnet and I’ve been happy with each and every one of them.

Took my new Ridgerunner out for 3 days canoeing last week. I found the Ridgerunner to be very comfortable and very well made. When it is weighted the seams it feels like there is a piece of metal in them they seem so strong. I got the single layer, and it can be a bit daunting being able to see through the material, but I know the material is very strong.
I am pretty new to hammock camping but I found that the Ridgerunner was much more forgiving in terms of setup, it was comfortable even when not pitched perfectly, I’m sure it will be even better when pitched right.

I started with an ENO Double Nest and recently switched to a Ridgerunner. I love the RR for several reasons:
1. Super flat lay, I can straight leg side sleep and semi fetal no problem.
2. Super outward view. Because the sides are so low, I have a incredibly unobstructed view of my surroundings. My ENO gave me a nice view of its interior, not much outside except the sky..
3. Super easy to exit. While it is a little more “tippy” than a gathered, it’s not that bad at all. Less than a 10 second learning curve. I was amazed how easy it was to exit the RR, much like getting out of an elevated cot. I always had to climb/crawl out of the ENO.
4. Super storage. The two saddle bags and one head bag are pure genius. They swallow all my gear with ease.
5. Super easy to set up. Well it seems so anyway. It appears to be less finicky on set up than my ENO.
I’ll gladly take the weight penalty for the RR and just drop the ounces somewhere else. The comfort is more than worth it. Great work Brandon, thank you.

I did my research before I called Warbonnet and then the owner returned my call to review everything I wanted to order Plus they gave me a discount for ordering the Full Monty.
When the hammock arrived I set it up in my basement and everyone I show it to and let them try it does not want to get out of it.
Cant wait for the weather to break in the Midwest so I can hit the trails.

I own a couple of hammocks, but this is the first time I have bought for the express use of camping. The hammock performed great! I had zero issues setting it up and it provided a great nights sleep after our 7 mile backpacking hike. When we broke camp, the hammock easily fit into the included pouch and took very little room in my pack. Once we returned home, it was nice to not have to spend a day cleaning it and drying it out!

I started with WarBonnet when Brandon did his first run of Blackbirds. It was my 3rd, and, to that point, last hammock that I bought. I originally had a DD hammock, then went to a Hennessy Asym, then to the WBBB. I had finally found perfection in hammocks. Or, so I thought.
I recall when bridge hammocks first came out, and I was skeptical. After all, I was happy with mine-why would I try something else? Well, 2 weekends ago, during a winter trip, I tried the RidgeRunner. I was hooked. I got home sunday night, but my WBBB and UQ up for sale, which sold in 20 minutes, and immediately ordered a RR. Got it by that wednesday.
See, I am a pad sleeper. I find underquilts too finicky. I am also a side and stomach sleeper. A single night in a RR had me convinced, it was time to change. And, I am happy I did. I have only spent a single night in one, and have only test hung in mine, but, knowing the quality, and attention to detail that he has been putting into his equipment, I KNOW I will not be disappointed!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Order was completed and shipped within stated turn around time. The RR came ready to hang right out of the box. The workmanship is OUTSTANDING. All stitching is clean and straight with great attention to detail. I’m 5′ 11″ 185# and have plenty of room. The lay is almost flat depending on you hang angle. Side and stomach sleeping is possible and quite comfortable. Stability is a non issue and the view …. AWESOME!
The Ridge Runner is a great product imo, and worth the purchase price. Stop thinking about it and get one for yourself … you wont regret the purchase.

got my RR hammock in and immediately put it up. I slept in it for the first 3 nights I had it and it has a pretty flat lay. quality is outstanding with attention to detail. I am a side / stomach sleeper and i was able to fall asleep on my back and also still be comfortable in a semi side position.

And I own 7 hammocks now. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on a bridge hammock, and I’m glad I did. I couldn’t be more pleased with this. The lay is flat, the stitching is perfect, the materials are high quality, and it’s very stable for a bridge hammock.
I have even been taking this on section hikes because of the comfort. The weight penalty over an ultralight setup is justified by how rested and refreshed I am the next day. I still use gathered end hammocks, but this hammock is may favorite by far.
If you’re considering a bridge, this is the one you want. don’t waste your time with any others, get the right one FIRST.

I’ve been searching the various site to obtain the perfect hang. Well I’ve finally found it in the Ridgerunner. Form the minute I received it I set it up and was amazed in the comfort and workmanship that went into this product. I have other hammocks but have never been able to find one that supports your whole body as the ridgerunner does. The saddlebags are an added bonus with no fussing with overhead storage nor exiting the hammock to retrive the item you require. I live in Alberta and we’ve just received an early snow fall, I have my ridgerunner hanging in my back yard and retreat there at the end of the day just to relax. Thanks Folks for the great product. This was my first hammock ever and I loved it. It came very quickly in the mail, well in advance of my trip and I only ordered it 2 1/2 weeks ahead of time. The first thing I did was examine all of the stitching, I saw no sloppiness at all. Then I picked up some carabiners to hang from and watched all the set up videos (I was not able to try it out beforehand) and it was really simple. It looked narrow when I set it up and I was worried that my majestic-sized rear end wouldn’t fit but I FIT COMFORTABLY! After spending an hour in it I was feeling truly safe enough to sleep and I didn’t have any problems getting in and out of it even when I got up in the middle of the night to answer nature’s call. I’m pretty sure this is my favorite way to camp.

Slept like a log – what more can I say? Easy set up and take down. Even with the spreader poles, it is a compact stow that fits well with my gear. Very happy with this RidgeRunner!

I got the RidgeRunner because the gathered end hammock I was using for camping left way too much to be desired. The RidgeRunner is far easier to set up than my other hammock, and not lying on the diagonal makes it so much simpler.
The Lynx Underquilt is also fantastic and I cannot recommend the combination enough!

This hammock is incredible! I received it last Saturday after ordering on Tuesday! I ordered the Ridgerunner with the Cloudburst Tarp and they are a perfect match. Saturday night I set it all up under the pines in my backyard and slept in it that night. It was about 80 degrees and POURED rain but I was nice, dry and comfortable. I slept in it again last night and didn’t use the tarp. It got down to 55 degrees and all I needed was a thermarest between the double layer bottom and my Kifaru “doobie” as a blanket. Great nights sleep. I tried the Hennessey ultralight backpacker asym zip and there is no comparison to the the quality and comfort of Warbonnet set up. I can’t wait to take this on the trail! I am hoping to add the lynx under quilt and mamba top quilt to the system. The Warbonnet team has excellent communication and it feels great to support this American company.

This is it, the hammock I have been searching for. The comfort is outstanding. The view out the sides is great. The craftsmanship is wonderful. The only aspect of this hammock that I would like to be different is that the net be fully removable, but I will likely but the net less version come winter if I really want to drop the net.
Just a couple of hangs in this hammock and I was sold, or rather my old hammocks were. I sold my custom gathered end hammock and my regular under quilt in order to order a Lynx to fit my Ridgerunner perfectly. I could not be happier with the design, comfort and construction of this hammock. Warbonnet is making great things. I will be getting a Lynx and a Spindrift to go with this hammock before the fall.

As a 25+ year military veteran with a couple of banged-up helicopters and more hard parachute landings that I care to recall, I am in no way able to camp in the traditional style for more than a night without significant ramifications. Hanging is the answer for me and there is no better build, better constructed, better designed hammock on the market – bar none.
If you are considering a hammock, you cannot go wrong with a Warbonnet product. I chose the ridge runner as I wanted more of a “flat” lie and I wanted to have more visibility than with a gathered device.
Figure out what is best for you and buy with confidence.

I loved both the RR and BB XLC, but can only keep one of them. I am 6 foot 4, 250 lbs. and the only problem I have with the RR is that I am at the upper limit for both size and weight for the RR; I found it a bit narrow from the elbows to the hips when laying with my arms at the side, and the head end spreader bar is a bit close to my forehead. But the hammock is otherwise comfortable and has better visibility out to the horizon than any other hammocks I have tried. Perhaps Brandon will introduce a RR XL, (or maybe I will make a DIY knock-off in XL). In any case, once again Brandon has built a better mouse trap. In the end the BB XLC is just a better fit for me now. Keep up the good work.

I heard a lot of hype about the Ridgerunner and figured I’d give it a go. I’m new to hammocks, only having some experience with a Skeeter Beater Pro. I got rid of the Skeeter because I didn’t find it comfortable. I noticed pressure points in my hips, it caused hyper extension of the knees and also pinched the shoulders too much. So, I heard how comfortable the bridge hammock was and decided to buy one. My experience with the Ridgerunner is very different. I have noticed that there is no hyper extension of the knees and no shoulder squeeze in this hammock. However, I do notice some pressure on the hips . I just sleep on my side when I feel discomfort. From all the reviews I’ve read on other forums, this is THE most comfortable hammock.

My first hammock was a clark nx 250, my next was a wb XLC 1.7 double layer with top. Both are great hammocks but I think I have found my favorite all around hammock. I find myself just putting it up for a nap in the yard. I was worried about it tipping because I toss from one side to the other while I sleep, there was no problem. I love the saddle bags and being able to access them from inside the hammock. The craftmanship is excellant and WELL thought out, made by someone who knows what a hanger needs in their hammock. After spending a few nights here and there in my multicam double layer, I’ve decided that this will be my go to hammock for most of my hanging. Set-up is a breeze with the buckles and it’s roomy as heck. The “lay” I achieve is flat as can be too 🙂
