- Only in-stock models are available for purchase. We add more heavy duty camping hammock inventory in weekly. If you make a complete selection of an out-of-stock item, checking all boxes including color, suspension etc, you should see a blue box down below the add-to-cart button that allows you to enter an email address for an email notification when that color/model is added back to inventory. If every color within a variation are out of stock, then the box may not appear unfortunately and you’d have to just check back, but using the email notice is the best option if you are able. We recommend signing up for a couple different color choices to ensure faster notification.

Note: The weight ratings listed below are based on comfort, not absolute tensile strength. So for instance the single layer is rated for a max of 250 lbs because users above that weight will experience more stretch than is ideal and so would be more comfortable in something with more support (like the Heavyweight double). The comfort ratings can be pushed somewhat but you will be trading in comfort in doing so.
Single Layer Eldorado:
Max comfort range: up to 250 lbs
Max load: 350 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 1lb 3.75oz
Fabric: 40D Nylon
Lightweight Double Eldorado:
Max comfort range: up to 275 lbs
Max load: 350 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 1lb 9.75oz
Fabric: 40d Nylon Outer, 15d Nylon Inner
Heavyweight Double Eldorado:
Max comfort range: up to 400 Lbs
Max load: 400 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 1lb 14.75oz
Fabric: 40D Nylon (x2)
Listed weights include net-top and stuffsac but not the suspension
You loosen the ridgeline by loosening the heavy duty camping hammock suspension and you tighten the ridgeline by tightening the hammock suspension. The ridgeline should be neither super tight nor drooping, and this will be achieved when your suspension straps run at about a 30 deg angle. Tightening/loosening the suspension will also raise/lower the hammock, so you may need to raise/lower the straps on the tree trunk to dial in the final hammock height which should be about chair height.
This refers to the weight of the fabric only, the heavyweight fabric being a heavier, stronger, more durable fabric than the lightweight fabric. It does not refer to the weight or weight capacity of the hammock itself. For instance a single layer 1.7 is made of the heavier more durable fabric, but since it is a single layer it is lighter than the lightweight double layer. So single layer vs. double layer has as much effect on the weight and weight capacity of your heavy duty camping hammock as fabric type does . All weight capacity and product weight info is listed in the collapsible product details boxes to the right of the product description.
For more information on which one is right for you, see our hammocking 101 page.
Generally any standard-sized backpacking pad (20″ or 25″ width) will work regardless of thickness and length, but in general the largest commercial camping pad that will be appropriate will be the size of the Exped downmat 9 LW, which is aprox. 77″x25″x3.5″. Also keep in mind that in a hammock you need insulation only, no padding is needed so extra thick air mattresses are not necessary, R-value and warmth are what are really important. Also keep in mind that if you are considering buying a new pad to use with one of our end-gathered heavy-duty camping hammocks (like the Blackbird or XLC), that an underquilt will be much more comfortable and a lot less hassle so you should seriously consider putting that money towards an underquilt instead.

Our Dynaweave webbing is made from UHMWPE fiber which has the highest strength to weight ratio of any synthetic fiber available, the result is a full strength webbing that is much thinner and compact at 1/3 the weight of standard polyester webbing. The topcover of a heavy duty camping hammock(not to be confused with a topquilt which is similar to a sleeping bag)is an optional add-on accessory that goes with the XLC hammock, It does not replace a tarp, although it is water resistant like a sleeping bag or windbreaker is so it will shed light moisture. It is made of breathable fabric and comes with two built in vents in order to avoid condensation issues. The benefit of the Topcover is that it will trap heat much better than mosquito netting and will generally raise the interior hammock temperature to about 15deg above the outside ambient air temperature so it is very popular among those that do a lot of cold weather camping.
We have several different hammock models each having different features, a breakdown of the differences can be found partway down our Hammock 101 page.
All of our heavy duty camping hammocks come with the stuff sack included and your choice of suspension. Recommended items are listed on each hammock page.

This hammock came with me on my entire AT thru hike until it got too cold & started sleeping in shelters every night so I sent it home. The whoopie slings w/ fish hooks make it incredibly easy to set up!! Integrated bug net, guy line, asymmetrical shape, it’s all exactly what you need for a good night’s sleep. I slept in this thing for a couple thousand miles and I’d sleep in it for a couple thousand more.

Great hammock. I purchased the El Dorado after seeing my backpacking buddies’ Blackbird. It’s comfortable, durable and looks great.

Upgraded to an Eldorado double layer heavyweight hammock from a cheap buy one get one free hammock. I am a heavyweight guy and I found it to be a night and day difference when I set it up in my yard. Can’t wait to get it out in the trail!!!

If you are starting out understanding that sleeping in a cheap hammock won’t be comfortable and want to keep it affordable, get the removable bug net, continuous ridgeline, and still have a fairly low weight this is a great hammock.
This is a great hammock to start with.

I had a zipper pull off on my very first night of use. I’d researched and researched, but I guess I should’ve gotten the XLC or something with an established track record. Really disappointed, hoping to return it.

Our gear is not indestructable, like any piece of lightweight gear you have to be somewhat careful with parts of it and if you don’t it can be damaged, particularly the first couple times when you aren’t yet familiar with using it.

I have two of these with a third one on the way, so that tells you something! I currently have a single layer and a heavyweight double layer. Both offer a similar lay for me at 180-190 (with the double being slightly more rigid) and they are extremely comfortable to sleep or sit in. The double layer is great for really buggy areas. The bugnet is a good distance from your face with the guyline so no ‘skeeters wake you up in the middle of the night. If it’s really buggy I’ll bring some painters’ tape to cover any small holes they might sneak into. I have no problem with calf ridge and find that I can lay comfortably with the Warbonnet “standard” setup (foot end 16″ above head) or more level if that’s what’s available. Stuff sac is great for storing any essentials on the ridgeline. For me, there’s no reason to look anywhere else for my hammocks.

This is my first ever hammock and I don’t think I could be more satisfied. I purchased the single layer in Autumn Orange with the becket+fishhook suspension, it weighs next to nothing and packs down extremely small. I initially shopped Warbonnet because of the modular systems you can build on and was blown away by the comfort of the hammock as I had not been able to test anything out prior to purchase. I’m looking forward to building my cold weather system with the accessories Warbonnet manufactures and I’m confident the quilts, UQP, and top cover will be as high quality as the Eldorado is.

I love my Eldorado and the interchangeable nature of its parts. It allowed me to work my way up gradually into a full XLC setup while also having another hammock for my kids and friends to use. Excellent craftsmanship. I dig the new softer-feeling fabric, too!

Unreal quality and some of the best sleep I’ve ever had on the trail. I’ve been using an amazon hammock with a bug net for years and calling it good. Purchasing an Eldorado is like driving around some Chrysler Lebaron and then jumping into a Rolls Royce. Extremely easy to set up/tear down, weighs nothing and the asymmetrical sleep is about as flat as you can get. Also all the accessories on the hammock are perfectly set up (stuff sack as storage bag on the ridge line…genius!) I absolutely love it. Bought a double layer and returned it for a single layer and an UQ. You cannot ask for better sleep. The tent is going into storage because I’m hanging out from here on out.

I wanted to buy my first high-end hammock and after looking at all the options (Dutchware, Dream Hammock, Hammock Gear, etc.) I decided on the Eldorado for the combination of its price point, weight, and modularity (I like sleeping without a bug net whenever possible). After a comfy maiden voyage and a healthy number of naps, I am super-satisfied with my purchase and anticipate lots of use. Fantastic quality – super-happy with my purchase and would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a first (and last) hammock.

I’ve slept quite a few nights now in my single layer Eldorado and it’s perfect for me, a really comfortable, well-proportioned hammock. While it is the “frugal cousin” of the BB XLC, what you get for your money is most of the clever design features of the XLC which is afterall ‘Hammock Royalty’. The ability to add-on XLC accessories like the 4 Season top was a key factor in my purchase. The build quality of my Eldorado is superb, with quality stitching work and first-class materials. The tooth zippers for instance are sensible, a few extra grams compared to a coil zipper but so worth it. Weight including CLs and stuff sack is 581g on my scales. I’ve got no doubt my Eldorado will get plenty of use. Also, great customer support and service from the Warbonnet team.
