Underover/Poncho:
The UCP is a fully waterproof under-cover for the bottom of the Ridgerunner. It fits loosely, hanging several inches below your underquilt. This allows moisture to evaporate or pool in the bottom where it can be easily drained in the morning. Comes stock with a hood and does double-duty as your poncho. Made of our NeverMist(TM) Silnylon tarp fabric, the UCP provides alot of extra protection to the bottom and ends of the RR and is appropriate for 3-season use, the Spindrift is much better suited for winter conditions being less susceptible to condensation in sub-freezing conditions

The pros and cons of any poncho also apply to this undercover. Differentiating from other ponchos, the hourglass shape (matching the ridgerunner) means slightly less coverage on the arms and flared bottoms. This shape is effective because the back corners are wide enough to wrap about my waist and buckle in front. I use a rubber band between the biners when I clip it around my waist to allow for movement. The front of the poncho is a bit wider and longer than I would choose for a poncho. I ball up this fabric and wrap with the rubber band or shove the wad in a hipbelt pocket.
The undercover is more baggy than the pictures show, and that’s the reason I took off a star. Even if you tuck in the hood, a slightly higher hang is needed, along with care taken that the poncho doesn’t catch on any brush as you swing/twist in the hammock. The baggy hang allows more wind noise and prevents any possible thermal benefit.
